Four times a year our calendar marks the solstice and the equinox. These dates relate to the earth’s orbit around the sun, and mark peak moments. Close or on these dates will be a special Dance-Connect! event to join together with the intension to connect with ourself and each other creating magic and meaning in our shared humanity and our place on earth.
Solstice, from the latin “sol” meaning sun, and “sistere” meaning to make stand, falls in December and June and is when the earth’s equator is furthest from the sun. The sun is at its most southern or most northern point in relation to the earth. Equinox in March and September, from the latin meaning “equal night” is when we experience equal measure of day and night. These dates are usually on or around the 21st of the month.
Both our ancient ancestors and also modern day Pagan and Wicca rites mark and celebrate these times of the year, and we shall too! Instead of being “robotic cogs in the machine on constant, linear time” we are human beings who are cyclical and connected with the earth, the planets and the change of seasons, and we can honour that relationship, and come home to ourself in that understanding and celebration.
Dance-Connect! is always a time to come back to ourself, to breathe, to feel, and to sense our aliveness. These quarterly dances will offer some reflection and meditation of where we are in time and space in relation to the seasons and the planet. These rites and rituals serve the part of us which longs for meaning and inspiration to live the best version we feel able to be at this time.
- Since Covid-19 – please note the dance will be adapted in terms of physical distance between participants. The venue is cleaned before and after every group. I will address practical related points in the “Welcome email” to participants who sign-up, and also at the start of the evening.
